If you’ve been reading our Posts, you’ve learned what a Mastermind Group is, how to select COIs to participate and how to organize and set meeting agendas. Now it’s time to invite the COIs you want to participate.
Following is a sample script you can use when calling COIs, inviting them to join your Mastermind Group:
YOU: [COI’s Name], I want to share something very special with you. I have a number of relationships with outstanding members of our community like you, and we’re having an initial meeting to discuss the benefits of collaboration. I’d like to invite you to join with us, as well.
Scenario #1 – YES
YOU: Are you familiar with the concept of Mastermind Groups?
COI: “Yes, I’ve heard the term.”
YOU: As you know, Mastermind Groups are composed of individuals who are commonly referred to as Centers of Influence, like yourself, who meet on a regular basis to share business development ideas, discuss problems and explore solutions as well as participate in joint ventures.
Would you be interested in attending one of our meetings to learn more about this intriguing concept?
COI: “Yes, I would.”
YOU: “Great. It will be held on [date] at [location]. I’ll email you an invitation that includes this information and a few more details. I have your email address as [email address]. I look forward to seeing you there.
Scenario #2 – NO
YOU: Are you familiar with the concept of Mastermind Groups?
COI: “No, I’m not.”
Advisor: If it’s okay, I’ll tell you a little more about them. Mastermind Groups are composed of professionals who are Centers of Influence, like yourself, who meet on a regular basis to brainstorm, share knowledge and to network. These small groups provide education, accountability and support to their members, along with an opportunity to share business development ideas and participate in joint marketing ventures.
Would you be interested in attending this meeting to learn more about this intriguing concept?
COI: “No, I don’t think so.”
YOU: So you don’t think you would like to attend this meeting. Thanks for being up front with me, and I respect your candor. Can you tell me more about what doesn’t interest you?
COI: I don’t have the time.
YOU: I respect how busy you are and, in fact, the number one reason many of us are attending is to learn how to become less busy by working on our businesses rather than just in our businesses. I’m sure that by the end of one meeting you’ll know if the value you would achieve would be worth your time and effort. If it’s okay, I’d like to email you additional information about Mastermind Groups. Once you’ve had a chance to review it, I’ll call back to answer any additional questions you may have. When would be a good time for me to do that?
Of course, you will have to tweak the script to fit your situation, but it gives you a push to start dialing.
